A recent survey by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) found that over half of Australians are unclear about how the central bank is fighting inflation, making it harder to control.

The RBA's Governor Michele Bullock noted 'inflation is still too high,' and a new survey suggests many people don't understand the relationship between interest rates and inflation. Only 25% of respondents correctly answered that higher interest rates would lower inflation, while over half believed they would increase it.

Bullock stated, 'We need to do a better job of getting out there and explaining to people in simple terms what is going on (in the economy).' The RBA survey found that inflation was the top economic concern among Australians, with two-thirds ranking it among their top three concerns. Those who cited inflation as a top concern were more likely to expect worsening economic conditions and household financial situations.
