Australia's Jobs and Wages Data Won't Shake RBA Rate Expectations
Australia's upcoming employment and wages data is expected to have little impact on Reserve Bank of Australia rate expectations, according to market analysts. The country's Q2 wage price index will be released on Wednesday, followed by the July labour force survey on Thursday.
The forecasts suggest that wages will rise 0.8% quarter-on-quarter for a third consecutive quarter, while annual growth is expected to ease to 3.2% year-on-year from 3.3% in Q1. Employment growth is projected at +12k versus +76.3k in June, and the unemployment rate is anticipated to remain at 4.4% for a third straight month.
Despite the steady RBA rate expectations, the Australian dollar continues to benefit from favourable carry conditions and Australia's commodity exposure tied to energy and sectors linked to AI and defence.
