Australia's Trade Surplus Shrinks Sharply to AUD495M Amid Rising Imports
Australia's trade surplus narrowed sharply in August to AUD495M, down from an earlier reported surplus of AUD1,923M in July.
The latest foreign trade data published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics on Thursday revealed that exports rose 3.7% month-over-month (MoM) in August, while imports climbed 5.8% MoM during the same period.
The Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) interest rate decisions and China's economic health are major influences on the Australian Dollar (AUD), with a strong Chinese economy typically boosting demand for AUD due to increased raw material purchases from Australia.
