Australia's Unemployment Rate May Need to Rise to 5%
The Reserve Bank governor Michele Bullock has suggested that Australia's unemployment rate may need to rise to 5% to ease inflation pressures in the country. This comes as the economy is experiencing high demand and stagnant productivity growth, putting a strain on its capacity to produce goods and services.
Bullock's comments were made in response to recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), which showed that job vacancies fell by 0.9% over the August quarter and by 1.4% year-on-year to 325,000.
