Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem highlighted that rising oil prices are contributing to economic growth in Canada. Speaking from a meeting of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Group in Bangkok, Macklem noted that the country's status as a net energy exporter sets it apart from other major economies. This distinction leads to different economic impacts, he explained during a reporter call on Saturday.
Macklem also indicated that the Bank of Canada will likely revise its inflation forecast upward by the end of the month. The higher oil prices are expected to play a significant role in this adjustment. Unlike many other nations, Canada benefits from elevated energy prices due to its export-oriented energy sector.
