Bank of Canada Warns Tariff Dispute Could Hit Business Confidence

The Bank of Canada has expressed concerns that a renewed trade dispute with the US could negatively impact business and consumer confidence.

Fears of a reigniting trade dispute loomed large over the bank's interest rate decision earlier this month, according to a summary of the deliberations released by the central bank on Wednesday.

The Bank of Canada governing council held its meetings from August 25 to September 2, just days after the US imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian aluminum exports.
