Bank of England Expands in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England has announced plans to open a new office in Leeds as part of its expansion in the city. The central bank will move into Capitol House in Bond Court, the city centre, by late 2028. This new location is expected to replace its current office at Yorkshire House and house its growing headcount in the city.
The Bank's presence in Leeds has been increasing, with just under 300 staff currently based there. However, it aims to expand this number to at least 500 by 2027. The move is part of an overhaul of the Bank's office footprint, known as its location strategy programme.
Bank governor Andrew Bailey said that the new office in Leeds is an important milestone in the Bank's long-term commitment to the city. He noted that the region offers exceptional talent and expertise that will help shape the future of the national economy.
