Bank of England Expands Leeds Office Amid West Yorkshire Growth Ambitions
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds with plans to launch a new office at Capitol House in Bond Court. This move comes as part of the central bank's long-term commitment to the city, with the aim of growing its West Yorkshire workforce from around 300 staff to at least 500 by 2027.
Bank Governor Andrew Bailey said that the new office will allow the Bank to better reflect and represent the people, businesses, and communities it serves. Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, welcomed the move as a 'powerful endorsement' of the region's economic future.
The relocation is scheduled for late 2028 and forms part of the Bank's property portfolio restructuring programme. This includes renovating its historic Threadneedle Street headquarters and reportedly closing the neighbouring Moorgate site by end-2028.
