Bank of England Expands Presence in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds by opening a new office at Capitol House in Bond Court. The move, set to take place in 2028, will provide a modern space that supports collaboration and innovation, meeting the bank's ambition to offer central banking functions across both London and Leeds offices.
The current base at Yorkshire House will be replaced by the new office, which is expected to facilitate the Bank's growing headcount in the city. Currently, about 300 people are employed by the Bank of England in Leeds.
Governor Andrew Bailey said: 'The Bank's new office in Leeds is an important milestone in our long-term commitment to the city.' He added that the bank has seen the value of exceptional talent and fresh perspectives from Leeds and the wider region. Tracy Brabin, mayor of West Yorkshire, also commented on the move, saying it's a powerful endorsement of the Northern Square Mile.
