Bank of England Expands Presence in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds with a new office at Capitol House, Bond Court. The bank has secured a long-term site that will eventually replace its current office at Yorkshire House and house its growing headcount in the city. By late 2028, the bank's operations will move to Capitol House, which will provide space for up to 500 staff, exceeding its current number of just under 300 employees.
According to Bank governor Andrew Bailey, the new office is an 'important milestone' in their long-term commitment to Leeds. He stated that they have seen the value of exceptional talent, expertise, and fresh perspectives offered by the city and wider region.
The move supports the bank's location strategy programme, which includes refurbishing its historic Threadneedle Street HQ and reportedly closing the nearby Moorgate site. The Threadneedle Street refurbishment aims to consolidate the Bank's property footprint in London by end-2028.
