Bank of England Expands Presence in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds with a new office set to open in 2028. The central bank has secured a long-term site at Capitol House in Bond Court, which will eventually replace its current office at Yorkshire House.
The move is part of the Bank's plans to expand its workforce in Leeds from around 300 staff to at least 500 by 2027. Bank governor Andrew Bailey said the new office was an 'important milestone' and that the Bank had seen the value of the talent, expertise, and fresh perspectives offered by the city.
Leeds Mayor Tracy Brabin welcomed the move, saying it would help boost growth across regions and ensure the future of the national economy is shaped by voices from across the country. The expansion comes as part of an overhaul of the Bank's office footprint, with its historic Threadneedle Street HQ to be refurbished and another site reportedly shut.
