Bank of England Keeps CCyB Rate at 2%, Advances Leverage Reforms
The Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee maintained the UK countercyclical capital buffer (CCyB) rate at 2% during its September meeting.
This decision left the CCyB rate unchanged from June, with the Bank stating that maintaining a neutral setting in this region is intended to ensure banks have capacity to absorb unexpected future shocks without restricting lending.
The Committee also agreed to proceed with leverage ratio reforms, which it expects will increase leverage capacity at UK banks by around 5% and enhance the resilience of core sterling markets.
