Bank of England Prepares to Expand Presence in Leeds with New Office
The Bank of England is expanding its presence in Leeds by opening a new office at Capitol House in Bond Court, which will be completed by late 2028.
The bank has secured a long-term site to house its growing headcount in the city and eventually replace its current office at Yorkshire House. The new location will accommodate the bank's plans to expand its workforce in Leeds from just under 300 staff currently to at least 500 by 2027.
The move is part of an overhaul of its office footprint, with the Threadneedle Street HQ set for refurbishment and another site reportedly to be shut. The Bank has stated that this will allow consolidation of its property footprint in London by end-2028.
Bank governor Andrew Bailey said: 'The Bank's new office in Leeds is an important milestone in our long-term commitment to the city.' Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, welcomed the move as a 'powerful endorsement of our Northern Square Mile' and stated that it will help ensure the future of the national economy is shaped by voices from across regions.
