Bank of England Raises Interest Rates Amid Widespread Financial Concerns
The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee has raised interest rates to 5.25 percent, a 0.25 percentage point increase.
This decision is likely to have a significant impact on households with variable mortgage rates or those whose current mortgage terms are soon to end.
Jane Tully, director of external affairs and partnerships at the Money Advice Trust, warns that higher interest rates will add to the worries of many households, particularly those already behind on repayments.
The charity notes that a quarter of UK mortgage holders worry about money every day, highlighting the strain on household finances due to high costs.
