Barr Warns of Inflation Pressures Amid Strong Economic Growth
Federal Reserve Governor Michael Barr emphasized that the current economic situation requires further policy adjustments to tackle inflation. In his recent remarks at a community development summit hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Barr stated that the balance of risks has shifted in favor of addressing compounding inflation pressures.
According to Barr, economic growth is strong and the labor market is solid, but inflation remains above the 2% target. He noted that the risks to achieving this target have increased while the risks to labor markets have receded. This assessment supports his view that further policy adjustments will be necessary.
