Barratt Redrow Jumps as UK Stocks Rise Amid Oil Price Decline

UK stocks rose in early trading on Wednesday, boosted by a decline in oil prices and stronger updates from homebuilders. The FTSE 100 index gained 0.34% while the FTSE 250 added 0.46%, driven by the housing sector's rebound.

Barratt Redrow led the gains with an 8.8% increase after reporting higher-than-expected profits and stronger home reservations.

The bigger influence, however, is still expected to be the upcoming decisions from major central banks: the Federal Reserve in the US today and the Bank of England tomorrow.

Market pricing suggests around 43.9 basis points of tightening by year-end, even if the Bank of England holds steady at its next decision, affecting short-term UK rates and fixed mortgage pricing.
