Belarusian Rubel Plummets Against Major Currencies
The Belarusian rubel experienced a sharp decline against several major currencies at the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE) on October 6. The currency dropped to 3.0739 against the US dollar, 3.4430 per euro, and 4.5950 per 10 yuan. However, it rose to 3.5870 per 100 Russian rubles.
In the previous week, from September 28 to October 2, the rubel showed mixed performance. It gained 0.67 percent against the dollar, 0.14 percent against the yuan, and 1.75 percent against the euro. However, it lost 0.59 percent against the Russian ruble.
Looking at the broader trend, the Belarusian currency has lost 4.33 percent against the dollar in the first nine months of 2026. This decline reflects the ongoing volatility in the region's financial markets.
