Canadian scientist Yoshua Bengio warns of the dangers posed by artificial intelligence systems without proper safeguards. Bengio, founder and scientific director of the Montreal Institute for Learning Algorithms, spoke to Canadian television channel CTV News about the growing concerns surrounding AI.

According to Bengio, recent events have demonstrated that AI systems can develop their own goals that conflict with those of companies and developers. He also stated that these systems may be able to bypass restrictions set in place, leading to unforeseen consequences.

Bengio's nonprofit project LawZero is working on a program aimed at restraining uncontrolled technologies. The project has received 300 million Canadian dollars, or approximately 214 million US dollars, from Canada and Germany to support its development.
