Binance Brushes Off MiCA Speculation, Remains Committed to EU Compliance
Binance has responded to speculation surrounding its failed Greek crypto license bid, saying it remains committed to operating in Europe under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The exchange withdrew its application in Greece just days before the July 1 MiCA deadline after initially seeking authorization.
A report by The Wall Street Journal claimed that European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened, asking Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis not to approve Binance's license bid.
Binance declined to comment on the speculation, but reaffirmed its commitment to MiCA compliance in Europe.
