BIST 100 Starts Week Strong with 0.84% Gain
Türkiye's BIST 100 index kicked off the new trading week with a strong performance, rising 0.84% on Monday. The benchmark index opened at 12,373.11 points, up 102.93 points from Friday's close, surpassing the 12,300-point mark. This positive start follows a modest 0.17% gain in the previous session, where the index ended at 12,270.18 points.
Trading activity remained robust, with Friday's total transaction volume reaching 124.8 billion Turkish liras, roughly $2.54 billion. Investors are closely watching both domestic and international market conditions as they navigate the Turkish equity market.
Currency markets were also under scrutiny at the start of Monday's session. The Turkish lira was trading at 49.1620 against the US dollar, 55.0100 against the euro, and 64.9990 against the British pound. These currency levels provide additional context for investors assessing the broader financial environment.
Commodity markets were another key focus. Gold prices stood at $4,151.05 per ounce, while Brent crude futures were trading at $101.54 per barrel. Both commodities remain critical indicators for economies and companies sensitive to energy costs and global market fluctuations.
As the trading week progresses, investors are expected to keep a close eye on the BIST 100's movements, along with developments in currency and commodity markets.
