BNP Paribas Rides ECB Rate Hike Expectations to Gains
BNP Paribas' stock has seen gains due to the European Central Bank's expected rate hike and its recent partnership announcement. According to a report, BNP Paribas expects a 25 basis point interest rate increase in December, with further tightening possible if second-round inflation effects emerge.
The banking group's Belgian subsidiary, BNP Paribas Fortis, reported a net profit of EUR 1.5 billion for the first half of 2026, demonstrating solid profitability in a higher-rate environment.
BNP Paribas has also strengthened its partnership with Portzamparc to support IPOs for small and mid-sized companies, aiming to channel investor demand into growth companies while expanding its role in European primary equity markets.
