The dollar saw a significant boost on Friday after data revealed that US employers added more jobs in August than expected, defying forecasts of only 56,000 new positions. Instead, they created 162,000 jobs, sending the unemployment rate steady at 4.1 percent.

This unexpected growth was seen as a positive sign for the US economy and led to an increase in the dollar index by 0.37 percent to 99.33. The euro dropped 0.28 percent to $1.1592, while the Japanese yen weakened by 0.41 percent to 156.45 per dollar.

Analysts pointed out that the sudden jump in the yen was largely due to market expectations of a more hawkish stance from the Bank of Japan at its upcoming meeting on September 17-18. This has led to speculation about possible intervention by the central bank to prop up the currency.
