BOE Expected to Hold Rates as US-Iran Tensions Fuel Inflation
The Bank of England is widely expected to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 3.75% as policymakers weigh weak economic growth against the risk of renewed inflationary pressures caused by the escalating conflict between the US and Iran.
In June, UK inflation eased to 2.6%, largely due to lower fuel prices during a brief lull in Middle East tensions. However, the recent resurgence in hostilities is expected to keep price pressures elevated, with inflation remaining above the Bank's 2% target.
Governor Andrew Bailey acknowledged concerns over the renewed conflict but stated that it had not materially altered the UK's inflation outlook.
