BOE Expected to Hold Rates Steady Amid Rising Inflation Concerns

The Bank of England is expected to maintain its interest rates unchanged at 3.75% despite rising inflation in the UK, which has reached a five-month high due to the ongoing Iran war.

Economists believe that a majority of the nine-member Monetary Policy Committee will vote to keep rates steady for the sixth consecutive meeting, as they wait for more evidence that higher inflation is affecting underlying prices and wages.

David Rees, head of global economics at Schroders, thinks interest rates will remain unchanged due to the 'relatively soft' economic backdrop, including wages and the labor market.

The inflation outlook will be a key factor in the Bank of England's decision, with many economists forecasting that prices will rise further in coming months as households face increased energy bills from October.
