BoE Holds Interest Rates Amid Rising Inflation Fears
The Bank of England has decided to hold interest rates at 3.75%, despite inflation continuing to rise. The decision was made by the Monetary Policy Committee, which voted 6-3 in favor of keeping rates unchanged.
Inflation currently stands at 3.1%, up from 2.9% last month, and is expected to reach around 4% by early 2027. The conflict in the Middle East has driven up energy prices, which are now more volatile than before.
According to Governor Andrew Bailey, higher global energy costs have had a limited impact on price and wage setting in the UK so far, but this is likely to change as volatility persists.
