BOE Keeps Rates Steady Amid Inflation Fears
The Bank of England has decided to hold its key interest rate steady at 3.75%, despite concerns about inflation and energy prices. In a move that was in line with economists' expectations, the Monetary Policy Committee voted 6-3 to maintain the bank rate at its current level.
Members Catherine Mann, Megan Greene, and Huw Pill dissented from the majority decision, calling for a quarter-point hike in interest rates. They argued that this would help anchor inflation expectations, which have been rising due to higher energy prices.
The Bank of England's decision comes as energy prices continue to rise, putting pressure on households and businesses. The MPC has indicated that it may need to take further action if the situation worsens.
