BoE Prepares for Rate Hike as Inflation Hits 2.5%
The Bank of England (BoE) may be gearing up for a rate hike, according to market analysts.
A recent analysis by Bloomberg suggests that the BoE is preparing for a potential interest rate increase in March. The move would see the base rate rise from its current 0.75% to around 1%, a significant jump of 33.3%.
The decision comes as the UK's inflation rate has been rising steadily, reaching 2.5% in January, surpassing the BoE's target of 2%. Critics argue that this could lead to higher borrowing costs for consumers and businesses.
