BoE Seen Holding Rates Amid Economic Uncertainty

The Bank of England (BoE) is set to maintain its benchmark interest rate at 5.25% following its upcoming meeting, according to market analysts and economists surveyed ahead of the decision.

A 7-2 vote in favor of a hold is widely expected, with two members likely dissenting in favor of a rate cut. This split reflects the ongoing debate within the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) about the balance between persistent inflationary pressures and a weakening UK economy.

Governor Andrew Bailey is not anticipated to adopt a hawkish tone, despite recent data showing that services inflation and wage growth remain elevated. Analysts expect him to acknowledge the progress made in bringing down headline inflation, while reiterating the need for policy to remain restrictive for an extended period.
