The Bank of Japan is set to hold its monetary policy rate at 1.0% as it assesses global economic indicators and domestic data, according to market consensus.

Japan's employment environment remains strong, with a steady unemployment rate at 2.5% in June and an unchanged jobs-to-applicants ratio of 1.17. However, the Tokyo core Consumer Price Index rose 1.8% year-on-year in July, accelerating from the previous month's increase.

Meanwhile, concerns about China's economic slowdown resurfaced with a July Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index falling below the 50 threshold to 49.9, missing market expectations of 50.3.
