BOJ Faces Growing Pressure to Raise Rates Amid Rising Wholesale Inflation

Japan's wholesale inflation remains elevated, with producer prices rising 7.2% from a year earlier in July.

This is slightly below the 7.4% increase economists had expected but only marginally slower than June's revised 7.3% gain.

The broad-based price increases are attributed to strong demand associated with the artificial intelligence investment boom, which has contributed to higher prices for industrial materials.

Nonferrous metals prices jumped 40.6% from a year earlier in July, accelerating from a 39.3% increase in June.
