BOJ Hikes Rate to 31-Year High Amid Global Market Pressure
Japan's central bank, the Bank of Japan, raised its benchmark interest rate to 1.25% on Friday, marking the highest level in 31 years. This move is part of efforts to normalize monetary policy after decades of keeping rates near or below zero.
The decision was expected and has been widely discussed in global markets. Governor Kazuo Ueda stated that the economy is recovering gradually and inflation is close to the targeted 2%.
Analysts have predicted another rate hike could come later this year or early next year, depending on various factors such as wage growth and price stability.
