BOJ Holds Interest Rate at 1.25% Amid Dissent from Two Board Members
The Bank of Japan's Monetary Policy Meeting resulted in a decision to maintain the uncollateralized overnight call rate around 1.25 percent, as agreed by a 7-2 majority vote.
This move is tied to changes in interest rates applied to measures such as the complementary deposit facility, which will also be at 1.25 percent.
Board members Asada and Sato dissented, with Asada stating that recent CPI below 2% indicates economic conditions aren't robust enough for rate hikes, while Sato emphasized that current trends haven't significantly accelerated to justify raising rates.
