BOJ Policymakers Eye Faster Rate Hikes Amid Rising Inflation Concerns

The Bank of Japan's policymakers have been discussing the need to focus on rising inflation risks and some are calling for faster interest rate increases, according to minutes from their July meeting. This comes after the central bank raised interest rates in June and paused in July before pushing its policy rate to a 31-year high.

The Services Producer Price Index (All items) rose by 3.7 percent from the previous year, while the Services Producer Price Index (All items ) increased by 3.2 percent. The minutes of the meeting show that some policymakers saw the need to address inflation concerns and called for faster interest rate hikes.

Japan's Top Currency Diplomat Mimura has also commented on the yen, stating that the Japanese Prime Minister, Finance Minister, and US have sent a clear message regarding its value. However, no further details were provided about what this message entails or how it will impact the currency market.
