BoJ Rate Hike Expectations Send Yen Soaring Against USD
The Japanese Yen has strengthened against its major currency peers, including the USD/JPY pair, which is trading 0.28% lower at around 155.80.
This development comes as analysts at Danske Bank expect the Bank of Japan (BoJ) to raise interest rates by another 25 basis points to 1.25%, following their previous increase last week.
Danske Bank anticipates a shift in the BoJ's communication around its policy path, signaling a more nimble approach to tightening, which they believe will weigh heavily on the yen if not implemented.
In related news, the US Dollar has corrected after failing to extend its three-day winning streak, with the Federal Reserve signaling more interest rate hikes are likely this year.
