BOJ Should Raise Rate to 1.5 Pct Amid Inflation Concerns
The Bank of Japan (BOJ) needs to raise its policy interest rate from 1.0% to 1.5%, according to economist Paul Sheard.
This move is necessary to combat inflation caused by higher import prices due to the yen's weakness, Sheard said in an interview.
The BOJ could adopt a more aggressive monetary policy after taking a cautious approach to avoid deflation returning if the rate is raised too quickly.
