Bolat Meets G20 Officials in Milwaukee
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat met with officials from G20 member states at the recent G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He discussed expanding trade and cooperation with representatives from the US, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and the European Union.
Bolat's talks with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer focused on removing barriers to trade and increasing mutual investment to reach a $50 billion bilateral trade target by 2028. Currently, trade is expected to reach $42-$43 billion this year, according to Bolat. The officials also explored opportunities in energy, defense, and the digital economy.
In meetings with Saudi Commerce Minister Majid al-Qasabi, Bolat discussed raising bilateral trade from its current level of $8.6 billion in 2025 and $6 billion in the first eight months of 2026 to $10 billion in the short term and $30 billion in the long term.
