Boston Fed Chief Reiterates Need for Tighter Policy to Combat Inflation Risks
Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Susan Collins has reiterated her support for the central bank's latest policy tightening. In a LinkedIn post, she emphasized that a higher interest rate trajectory is necessary to steer persistent price pressures back toward the official target.
Collins noted that elevated price pressures demand a more restrictive policy stance to deliver long-term price stability. She stated that 'a somewhat more restrictive federal funds rate will help ensure that inflation durably returns to target.'
According to Collins, recent economic indicators point to an increased likelihood of persistent price pressures continuing.
