Brampton Takes Center Stage as Canadian Food Manufacturing Hub
Invest Brampton hosted its fourth annual Food and Beverage Processing Summit to discuss market conditions and opportunities in the Canadian F&B industry.
The event highlighted Brampton's role as a 'supercluster' of food and beverage manufacturing, with the city's F&B processing industry contributing $1.3 billion annually to Canada's GDP and employing 8,500 people across 300 companies.
A panel discussion featured Anne Wagner-Mitchell, consul general of the Federal Republic of Germany, Toronto, who pitched Germany as a perfect partner for Canada in the F&B sector due to its large economy and integrated access to 27 countries through the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.
Joan Berger, senior vice president of marketing at Berger Holding, emphasized the importance of adapting culturally and making products unique in new markets when expanding internationally. Ian Brooks, CEO of HelloFresh Canada, noted that building a global brand is challenging due to differences in geography and customer preferences across regions.
