Bullock Faces Parliament Amid 70-75% Hike Probability
RBA Governor Michele Bullock is set to appear before the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Economics today, alongside Deputy Governor Andrew Hauser and Assistant Governors Sarah Hunter and Brad Jones.
The hearing is a routine parliamentary appearance, not a scheduled monetary policy speech, but any comment from Bullock could still move market pricing ahead of next month's meeting.
The RBA has been in the midst of a rate hiking cycle this year, with three 25 basis point increases taking the cash rate to 4.35% before two consecutive holds at its June and August meetings.
Trimmed mean inflation, the RBA's preferred measure, was running at 3.6% year on year as of July data, still above the bank's 2-3% target band.
