Buzzi's Regional Divide: Brazil Strengths Offset US and Europe Weakness
Buzzi S.p.A., an Italian cement maker, released its first-half 2026 results on August 4, revealing a mixed performance across regions. The company maintained nearly flat revenues at €2,189 million but saw EBITDA decline 8.2% to €483 million, with margins compressing 190 basis points to 22.1%. Despite these headwinds, Buzzi maintained its full-year EBITDA guidance of €1.1-1.2 billion.
The company navigated challenging market conditions characterized by elevated interest rates in developed markets, geopolitical uncertainties, and persistent cost inflation. Operational resilience was evident in revenue generation, with cement volumes increasing 5.4% to 15.7 million tons, aided by scope changes including the UAE acquisition. However, ready-mix concrete volumes declined 4.2% to 4.6 million cubic meters, reflecting weaker demand in core European markets.
Net sales remained essentially flat at €2,189 million, representing just 0.1% growth on a reported basis and 1.1% like-for-like. This stability masked significant regional divergence, with scope contributions of €61 million from acquisitions offset by volume declines and a €35 million negative foreign exchange impact.
