CABHI Unveils Amplify Program to Boost Canadian Brain Health Innovations
CABHI, powered by Baycrest, has launched a new funding program called Amplify to accelerate the growth and commercialization of Canadian life sciences technologies. This program comes at a critical time as Canada's population ages rapidly, with a projected 1.7 million people living with dementia by 2050 at an annual cost of $110 billion.
The Amplify program will award up to $600,000 to Canadian life sciences companies in the later stages of their aging and brain health projects. This is part of CABHI's existing innovation programs that support and accelerate early- to mid-stage projects, providing integral funding and tailored acceleration services to Canadian innovators.
CABHI has already provided over $243 million in direct and match funding to Canadian innovators since 2015, resulting in over $97 million in Canadian jobs and over $1 billion in follow-on investments into the economy. The Amplify program aims to close the gap between promising research and real-world solutions, enabling homegrown companies to move further and faster toward commercialization, adoption, and global markets.
CABHI's President and Chief Scientist, Dr. Allison Sekuler, says 'Canada creates world-class brain health innovations, but those innovations only become breakthroughs when they reach the people who need them to improve their lives.' Applications for Amplify are open until October 14, 2026.
