CAC 40 Edges Up Amid Rising Oil Prices and Trade Tensions
The Paris-based CAC 40 index gained 11.83 points to close at 8,317.98 on Tuesday, representing a modest but notable advance of 0.14% from Monday's finish.
The index opened the day at 8,268.12 and dipped in early trading to a session low of 8,257.60 before climbing steadily through the afternoon to a high of 8,320.05 shortly before the close.
The advance was driven by three overlapping forces: rising crude oil prices, higher Treasury yields following last week's strong US jobs report, and tensions in the Strait of Hormuz that have pushed investors to reevaluate global trade relationships.
