Cambodia and Australia Strengthen Ties Amid Growing Trade and Investment

Cambodia and Australia have strengthened their diplomatic relationship after successful Senior Officials' Talks in Phnom Penh on September 11. The talks, co-chaired by Un Kheang, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Michelle Chan, Deputy Secretary of Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, focused on key socio-economic areas such as economy, trade, and investment.

The two countries agreed to unlock the full potential of cooperation frameworks like the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Area. They also vowed to increase investment in sectors such as agriculture, agro-processing, renewable energy, logistics, automotive, electronics, and vocational training.

Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that Australia pledged ongoing support for Cambodia in capacity building and technical assistance. The Australian government reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Cambodia to strengthen the resilience of the Cambodian economy and support the diversification of its trade.
