Canadian government bond yields rose on Wednesday as oil prices surged above $100 a barrel, fueling concerns that inflation could remain elevated and limit interest-rate cuts.

The benchmark 10-year Government of Canada bond yield was around 3.8% at 11:10 a.m. ET on September 9, as Brent approached the $100 mark after ending Tuesday at about 3.81%, according to Bank of Canada benchmark data.

Higher energy prices are complicating the inflation outlook for central banks and pushing global bond yields higher.
