Canada's economy has emerged from its brief recession, growing at an annualized rate of 3.3% in the second quarter. This marks the fastest pace of growth in three years and is driven largely by higher exports.

The increase in exports was led by shipments of passenger cars and light trucks, as well as metals and energy products such as oil and natural gas. Business capital investments also rose 2.3%, with spending on machinery and equipment reaching its highest level since 2024.

Household spending across Canada increased 0.8% in Q2, led by higher spending on mutual funds, vehicles, and rent. Compensation of employees rose 1.5%, driven by higher wages in finance, real estate, and company management.
