Canada Economy Surges to Best Quarterly Growth in Over Three Years
Canada's economy experienced a stronger-than-expected growth of 0.3% in May, according to official data released on Friday.
This marks the best annualized quarterly performance for more than three years, with a projected 3.4% growth rate for the second quarter.
Economists had forecasted a 0.2% expansion in May, but Statistics Canada's revised figures for April showed a 0.6% increase, the highest monthly gain since July 2025.
The central bank had predicted a 2.5% growth rate for the second quarter, but this new data suggests that the economy is outperforming expectations.
