Canada Launches Review of Clean Economy Sectors Amid Trade Tensions
As Canada's trade tensions with the US persist, the House of Commons' International Trade committee is launching an in-depth review of Canada's clean economy sectors as export assets. The study will focus on nuclear technology, clean electricity, and critical minerals processing, aiming to advance Canada's position in secure, resilient, and value-added global supply chains.
The Centre for North American Prosperity and Security, Mining Association of Canada, Vision Marine Technologies, Candu Energy, Resource Works Society, Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and MacDonald-Laurier Institute analyst Heather Exner-Pirot are among the groups set to present their findings. The review is a self-initiated effort by the committee to assess Canada's clean economy sectors as strategic export assets.
In other news, the Science and Research committee will explore the recommendations from the External Advisory Panel on the Creation and Dissemination of Scientific Information. This panel was formed in June to provide suggestions on how the government can advance substantive equality by protecting, promoting, and raising the profile of French language in science.
