Canada Prepares for Possible US Invasion Amid Ongoing Trade Tensions
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has confirmed that his government has prepared for the possibility of a US invasion amid ongoing trade tensions between the two nations.
In an interview with The New York Times, Carney stated that it would be 'irresponsible not to' consider such a scenario as part of risk management, although he emphasized that it is not a base case.
The comments come after Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs on US goods worth over $20 billion in response to Trump's earlier 50% duties on Canadian products.
Carney, a former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, noted that his government has 'the reserves, resilience, plan, and focus' to respond to any potential invasion.
