Canada Seeks Economic Partnership with Expanding Indian Economy
Canadian Trade Minister Maninder Sidhu has expressed Canada's willingness to help build India as its economy expands, citing opportunities in energy, critical minerals, and aerospace.
Sidhu stated that India requires a significant increase in energy supply by 2035, with Canada having the capacity to meet this demand. He noted that Canada is expanding its liquefied natural gas (LNG) capacity and expects to become one of the world's leading LNG exporters within the next five years.
The minister emphasized that the potential economic partnership between the two countries goes beyond energy, with opportunities in critical minerals, aerospace, and investment. Sidhu highlighted Canada's ability to supply India with the necessary elements for electric vehicle batteries, stating that 'Canada is the only country in the Western hemisphere that has every single element to make an electric battery.'
