Canada Slaps Counter-Tariffs on $27.6 Billion Worth of US Goods
Canada has imposed counter-tariffs on US goods worth $27.6 billion in retaliation for the Trump administration's tariffs on Canadian products.
The new duties of 15%, 25%, and 50% apply to steel, aluminum, dairy goods, including cheese, as well as other items.
However, Canada has removed some seafood products from the initial list.
In response to the US tariffs, which affect about 5.5% of Canadian exports, Ottawa's pushback aims to mitigate the impact on its economy.
The US tariffs were imposed over 'discriminatory treatment' against US alcohol, automobile, and dairy industries.
